Thai military forces continued firing toward Cambodian forces at Prorlean Thmar area, Choam Ksan District, Preah Vihear Province,
Her Excellency Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and the Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, would like to inform the general public, as well as national and international media outlets, about the situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border today, as follows:
The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia has recorded the provocation acts undertaken by the Thai military forces that, on December 7, 2025, the Thai military forces launched an attack on the Cambodian forces stationed in Prorlean Thmar area, Choam Ksan District, Preah Vihear Province, from approximately 14:15 to 14:32 hours. The Thai side also falsely accused Cambodia without any basis, despite the fact that the Cambodian forces did not retaliate at all. The Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia firmly denies and entirely rejects any accusations made by Thailand, which aim to mislead national and international public opinions and use them as a pretext to escalate military tensions with Cambodia.
Furthermore, at around 20:02 hours, the Thai military forces launched a second attack using small arms, firing multiple shots in front of the Cambodian front line in O’ Phka Sneh area. Subsequently, at 20:30 hours, Thai military forces continued firing toward Cambodian forces at Prorlean Thmar area, Choam Ksan District, Preah Vihear Province, the same location where they had previously launched attacks earlier in the afternoon of December 7, 2025, by firing multiple shots using both small arms and mortars. The assault by the Thai military forces ceased at approximately 20:50 hours.
Standing on the spirit of respecting all previous agreements and resolving conflicts peacefully according to international law, Cambodia did not retaliate at all during the two assaults and continues to monitor the situation vigilantly and with utmost caution. Additionally, Cambodia, for the second time, has informed the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) about this incident and plans to request the AOT to conduct an investigation into the matter to ensure transparency, justice, and impartiality.
Cambodia reaffirms its firm commitment to respecting and implementing all conditions of the ceasefire, the Joint Declaration between Cambodia and Thailand, with goodwill and the highest sense of responsibility. Cambodia reiterates that rather than resorting to acts of aggression or the use of force, Cambodia firmly adheres to resolving disputes through peaceful means in accordance with international law, the existing treaties, conventions, and agreements, so as to seek solution that is just, fair, long-lasting, and in compliance with international law, for war cannot be ended through war itself.
Based on the above information, the public, both domestic and international media, are advised to be informed accordingly.
